This quest begins after the player speaks to the apparition that appears when they become over-encumbered or leave an inn with the furniture-store note. The player will receive an objective to investigate a workshop near Falkreath and a map marker for Storereach.
If the player discovers Storereach on their own, the quest will instead begin after they read the KALLAX Instruction Manual inside the workshop.

Outside the cave, the player will find a note warning of "bloodthirsty beasts" within. The interior shows signs that someone once lived there, with numerous bear traps placed between the entrance and the deeper chambers.
Near the first large room, a group of Skeevers will attack. These are the creatures referenced by the note.
The room beyond combines moving gears and stonework that signal Dwemer architecture. A small pile of treasure rests near a large stone bed at the back. When the player approaches the bed, a musical cue will play and the bed will slide aside, revealing stairs that lead to a Dwemer elevator.

The elevator carries the player into Storereach Workshop. A lever opens the sealed entrance, and a discovery cue plays when the player enters the main showroom.
A glowing pile of clutter near the entrance cannot yet be moved. Activating it displays the message: "Only the supremely organized would be able to clear this debris."
As the player enters the showroom, the apparition of Sven Skyltsson will welcome them. Ten magical lights can be found throughout Storereach: eight in the winding showroom and two in the warehouse. Activating one causes Sven and other apparitions to demonstrate the furniture nearby.

The workshop is staffed by non-hostile blue-and-yellow automatons. Small spider automatons wander the showroom, while a much larger worker can be found in the warehouse. Near the back is a queue and a counter operated by an automaton wearing a chef's hat. Speaking to the chef allows the player to purchase Meatballs.

Past the counter, the player will find another sealed doorway blocked by clutter and an open route leading toward the quest objective.
At the top of the ramp, the player will find a desk beside a pile of bones. The KALLAX Instruction Manual, Mysterious Soul Gem, and Staff of Assembly are on the desk.

Reading the manual updates the objective to collect the soul gem and staff. After taking both, the player will be directed to recover three missing components:

The room beyond the desk contains a partially built KALLAX on a raised platform. Three devices throughout the workshop point toward the missing components.
Using the Staff of Assembly on a device summons a spider automaton. The objective marker follows the worker until it reaches the corresponding component, then moves to the item itself. The components can be recovered in any order, and the objective will track how many the player has collected.
After collecting all three components, the player will be directed back to the assembly platform.
Each time the player activates KALLAX, one component is removed from their inventory and added to the shelving unit. After the third component is installed, KALLAX will appear complete and the player will receive an objective to place the Mysterious Soul Gem.
Activating KALLAX again opens the gift menu. Gifting the Mysterious Soul Gem causes KALLAX to glow and updates the objective to use the Staff of Assembly.
When struck by the staff, KALLAX floats into the air as magical light and music fill the room. KALLAX spins through the energy before crashing back onto the platform in a final burst of magic.
When the scene ends, KALLAX calmly greets the player. After the conversation, KALLAX learns to walk and begins following the player as a non-combat companion.
KALLAX does not use Skyrim's normal follower slot, allowing the player to bring it alongside a standard follower.
On the way out, KALLAX will notice the clutter blocking the workshop shortcut. Activating the pile prompts KALLAX to organize it, clearing the path back to the entrance and teaching the player how the tidying ability works.
If the player leaves before clearing the pile or opening the shortcut, KALLAX will comment on them skipping the tutorial.
Near the exit, KALLAX points out a Word Wall buried beneath junk. Once KALLAX clears it, the player can learn all three words of the Summon KALLAX Shout. Using the full Shout teleports KALLAX to the player from anywhere.
Completing the conversation with KALLAX finishes Under Construction. After the pair leave Storereach, the next quest begins.
