Tidying Up begins immediately after KALLAX receives the first upgrade at the end of Reorganizing.
The first objective points the player to a shack above the river west of Riften, where KALLAX believes they can find the master's former assistant.

Inside the shack, the player will find an overturned shelf surrounded by clutter. KALLAX comments as they approach.
Activating the shelf causes KALLAX to use the tidying ability. KALLAX stands the shelf upright and neatly returns the nearby items to it, revealing a hatch that leads into the Agglomerated Archives.

The Archives begin as a relatively orderly Nordic ruin. Deeper inside, the player will encounter increasing disarray, overturned shelving, and piles of clutter that only KALLAX can remove.
The dungeon contains magical traps, skeletons, and Draugr wearing clutter as armor. Many of these enemies use household objects, including spoons and brooms, as weapons. Skeletons become less common as the player descends, eventually leaving the halls filled with clutter-covered Draugr.

The player will reach a large room with a water feature and large piles of discarded items. Clutter Draugr emerge from several of the piles and attack.
Beyond this room is a high-vaulted chamber. A discovery cue plays as the player sees a large mound of clutter and a golem assembled from the debris.
As the player approaches, KALLAX steps forward to address the golem. The creature reveals that she is the assistant KALLAX has been seeking.
Their conversation reveals that KALLAX was the master, rather than the assistant. The player can ask KALLAX and the Assistant several questions before directing KALLAX back to the matter at hand.
At the end of the conversation, the Assistant attacks and the objective updates to defeat her.

The fight has three phases, accompanied by music that changes as the battle advances.
The Assistant fights in melee and applies an effect that slows the player. She periodically adds random clutter to the player's inventory and hurls loose objects from around the arena.
KALLAX runs through the chamber collecting airborne clutter before it can strike the player.
When the Assistant's health is nearly depleted, she moves to the center of the room, knocks the player back, and surrounds herself with a shield made from clutter.
The Assistant cannot be damaged during this phase. The player must avoid flying objects and falling explosive barrels while KALLAX dismantles the shield.
After the shield is removed, the Assistant becomes vulnerable again. Her original attacks return while the additional clutter and explosive barrels remain active.
Defeating her causes the golem to collapse and updates the objective to speak with KALLAX.
KALLAX realizes its original purpose and begins transforming. Magical energy lifts KALLAX into the air before a final burst returns it to the ground with the ultimate upgrades unlocked.
KALLAX approaches the large clutter pile blocking the way forward, charges a small burst of power, and declares the clutter already defeated. The magic then flashes across the pile, placing every object neatly onto shelves and opening the route ahead.
KALLAX now has an effective carry weight of 100,000,000 and can automatically collect loose loot while following the player.
The final perk sets KALLAX's carry weight to 100,000,000. Skyrim stores this value as a 32-bit float. At 16,777,216, the value reaches the point beyond which every consecutive whole number can no longer be represented exactly. Higher values remain possible, but use increasingly larger increments. In normal play, this functions as effectively unlimited storage.
The quest completes. A treasure room and a shortcut back to the surface can be found beyond the organized chamber.
