This is continued from the Army Base Hall - Arrival section of Fever Dreams.
The player will fall into a large-ceiling room and land in a container of green liquid. During this sequence, the player will be in first person and animated. An alarm will sound warning of an unexpected contaminant in the chamber. The liquid will begin to drain around the player, who will gasp audibly for air. The container they were in will open up and they will stumble out of it, landing on their knees as they catch their breath. The player will look at their hands trembling...
Another computer alert will tell the player to take the emergency Antiviral as they are standing up. The animation ends for the player and they are given control again. The player will then receive an objective to take the Antiviral.
Upon activation, an animation will play of the player receiving the injection.
The Antiviral objective completes and the player is left with just the lockdown objective.
¶ Pike and the Security Holotape
The player can proceed through a linear sequence of rooms and will eventually reach one with a large tank of liquid under the floor and a security door blocking the path forward.
As the player approaches the door, a Ghoul will speak to them through an intercom. The player will receive an objective to use the intercom. Doing so will trigger a remote conversation with a Ghoul character named Pike - the friend of the Supermutant met near the entrance.
This character will explain the predicament the player is in. The player has only received one half of the Antiviral drug needed to stabilize the mutation; Pike also needs the second half, and is also trapped. He’ll ask the player to find a set of codes somewhere around the door they are stuck at.
The player will receive an objective to find the codes. The codes will require several steps to acquire.
- Access the locked Pump Room:
- The player can hack the terminal by the Pump Room Door (Expert) to open it
- The player can activate the Protectron in a nearby room and help it with its clean up task.
--- The Protectron’s terminal is locked (Advanced)
--- If the player cannot hack Advanced terminals, they can find the Maintenance Protectron Access holotape to the terminal on the shelves in the main room.
- Speaking to the Protectron and asking it about it’s current duty, the player can find out about a fungal infection it needs to deal with. The player can then harvest 3 brain fungus around the room to satisfy the protectron’s task, it will acknowledge the clean-up is complete and proceed to unlock the pump room for the player.
- [Alternate Path] If the player has activated the Protectron, they can destroy it to get the Pump Room key off of it instead of waiting for it to open the door.
- [Alternate Path] If the player has the Robotics Expert perk, they will have an alternative dialogue choice to get the robot to open the door immediately.
- Unblock the Pump Drains:
- The Pump Drains can be bypassed entirely by turning the yellow valve in the Pump Room, which requires one of the following:
--- Player has 8+ Strength (Force it open)
--- Player has 8+ Intelligence (Repair it)
--- Player has Oil (Consumes 1 Oil)
--- Player has a Wrench
- If the player cannot use the valve, they can instead go downstairs to the drain pipe and open the hatch, where they will see a crate blocking the drain. The player can use the grab key to remove the crate from the pipe to clear the blockage
- Run the pump to empty the FEV Tank - there is a button on some consoles near a broken window overlooking the tank that will trigger the draining.
- Heading to the lowest level, the player will find a button to open the door so they can enter the FEV tank.
- Inside the tank, the player will find an “Office Passcode” holotape.
- After picking this up, the FEV tank will seal and start filling with water, followed by an announcement which declares that a cleaning sequence is starting. An objective will appear to escape the tank. The player must turn the Emergency Drain Valve on the wall inside to drain it again.
- The player can then head all the way up the stairs to the Officer’s Office, using the Office Passcode to unlock the terminal and door.
- The player can now get the Jefferson Lab Security Code from the Officer’s Desk. Inside the office, the player will also find a new custom outfit on a corpse behind the desk.
Once the player has the security code, they will receive an objective to return to the intercom.
Speaking to Pike at the intercom will include an Insert Holotape option that will cause the player to insert the tape and trigger the door to open.
Pike will then explain to the player there is only one second dose available, and the two of them are competing to see who can get it first.
The player will then be able to proceed to Makeshift Boston.
