¶ Starting the Quest
Near the end of the quest Echoes, after the player is on their way out of Stonesong Grotto, the player will be approached by Helvana.
She will inform the player she is pursuing something there. If the player asks after it, she will explain that she was meant to be the one hunting Volgaafsonaan, but that she couldn't Shout. She tells the player that the secret to her being able to Shout lies here and is hoping to find a way. If the player agrees to help, they will start this quest.
The player will then receive an objective to explore the place with Helvana, and she will run back through the loop back entrance.
¶ Completing the Quest
When the player reaches Helvana, she will be back in the boss chamber of Stonesong Grotto near where the boss was at the top of a platform.
Helvana will become frustrated and say that nothing is happening and explain what she was expecting. The player can offer to help, in which case they will get an objective to figure out how the platform works.
If the player had previously found Sledrig's Journal, they will have a dialogue option to hand over the Research Notes, otherwise, the player will need to find them first.
The journal can be found on a table in the room just to the left of the platform.
After handing Helvana the journal, she will read through it and determine that a soul will need to be imprinted on her.
The player can volunteer to help. If they do, they will receive an objective to find the second platform.
The second platform is right next to the first, covered in rubble. The player will need to use Earthsong to break the rubble.
Next the player will need to stand on the platform, and then use any Resonating Shout to trigger the transfer. (Once the player is on the platform, Helvana will begin a series of idle dialogues that will eventually hint to the player they should try a Shout).
After the Shout, a beam of energy will connect to a crystal on the ceiling from the player, and then to Helvana. She'll fall down and begin screaming in pain.
Once the player speaks to her, she'll tell them she is alright and that she is not up for trying to Shout yet, but she will soon, and the quest completes.
This now sets up an alternate ending during the main quest.
