This is an unmarked miscellaneous quest. The title "The Friend" will not appear in game anywhere.
After the player completes their second Hero Path, the Guide Spirit will prompt the player again to speak about something.
Asking the Guide Spirit, “You wanted to talk about something?” will prompt her to tell the player of a lost friend. The player will be directed to find a spirit in the Solitude Catacombs.
When the player reaches the catacombs, they’ll find a coffin with the same glow that possessed objects have. If the player activates it and the nearby hostile skeletons are dead, the spirit inside will leap out, say a few words, and disappear.
If the skeletons are still alive the player will be prompted to deal with them (first by the Guide Spirit and then a notification message).
Once the spirit has gone through its scene, the Guide Spirit will forcegreet the player. She will then teach the player a new spell called Seance. When used on a spirit with low health, this spell will finish it off and grant the player more Ectoplasm than had they just killed it normally.
At this point the player is prompted to interact with the coffin again, and upon doing so the spirit will leap out once more, but be hostile this time. Upon it dying, the Guide Spirit will say a few more lines.
If the player successfully cast Seance on the hostile spirit these will be more positive than if they did not. In either case, the quest completes when the Guide Spirit finishes speaking.
